astro_noms | and then that happened...

I was chatting with my mom yesterday, and I mentioned that I have the next three weeks off, because it's exam time at uni and I'm done with all my classes already, and she was all "you should come to New York." And it sucked, but I had to say no, because I don't have the money to fly out. I was really glad I didn't get a "you should manage your money better" talk, and I figured that was the end of that. And then a couple of hours later, she messaged me again with "is the 13-21 of February OK for you?" So I'm all "what are you doing?" and she sends back "buying you a ticket."

She had to go back to work, so that was the end of our conversation, and I figured enh, maybe she's not going to do it after all. And then this afternoon, I got the reservation confirmation from Lufthasna and I'm flying out to New York for a week on the 13th! I'm really looking forward to it, for multiple reasons. I miss my mom, most of all, but also it'll be nice to get away for a few days, and it'll be great to see New York in the winter (for whatever value of "winter" will apply). The last two times I was there was in the summer, and it was too hot to think, so I'm looking forward to the different season.

Now to figure out where all the stuff I need for travel is, how to pack, what to pack, decide on what size suitcase to take, and make a list of all the things I have to have with me. *flails*
