Have a helpful A-Z meme I stole from
mysticshell that will tell you a little about me:
A - ACCENT: Heh. I learned English from watching TV in Canada, so it's a mix of Canadian and General American. I pronounce "sorry" as /sohree/, not /sahree/ like some Americans do. I do not say "aboot." I tend to pick up intonations from people around me, which is why in the two years I've lived in Poland my accent has become "generally American-ish, but with a somewhere-in-Europe influence." In the two months I've lived in Wales, I've picked up some random Welsh inflections, so it's probably all sorts of weird now. To people around here, I sound American. Hell, I sound American even when speaking French, as I found out when I attempted to give directions to a French dude when I was in London. (He asked in broken English and then trailed off into French, so I wanted to be helpful. I managed to make myself understood, but got a "ahh, vous-etes Americaine, non?" He was the only person to make that assumption not to apologize when I corrected him - everyone here is all "oh! sorry!" when I clarify I'm Canadian.)
B - BIRTHDAY MONTH: February, right on the Aquarius-Pisces cusp.
C - CHORE YOU HATE: General cleaning up, I guess? Is there anyone who likes that?
D - DAD'S NAME: Waldemar. From the Ancient Germanic "vald mari," which means "famous ruler."
E - ESSENTIAL MAKE-UP ITEM: Mascara. Most of the time I don't wear anything other than a little bit of mascara and some lip balm, although I'm trying to learn how to do makeup and wear more a bit more often.
F - FAVOURITE PERFUME/COLOGNE: No particular brand, but I love vanilla scented things.
G - GOLD OR SILVER: Silver, although I'm allergic to something in the silver that's made in the US/Canada. A jeweler in Poland told me it has something to do with it being rhodium-plated? IDK, I'm allergic to non-precious metals, too (ugh, belt buckles), so it could be as simple as a nickel allergy.
H - HOMETOWN: Born in Wrocław, Poland. Grew up in Edmonton, Canada.
I - INSOMNIA: Occasionally.
J - JOB TITLE: Student, as well as freelance translator.
K - KIDS: Not at the moment. Not planning on any at the moment.
L - LIVING ARRANGEMENTS: While here in Wales, renting a house with four other roommates. When I go back to Poland, we'll see.
M - MOM'S BIRTHPLACE: Zabrze, Poland.
N - NUMBER OF APPLES YOU'VE EATEN: None today. In my lifetime? Probably about eleventy gazillion. (That is *too a number. *nods sagely*)
O - OVERNIGHT HOSPITAL STAYS: Three or four, I think? I'm not sure.
P - PHOBIA: Spiders. Bees/wasps/hornets/dragonflies/other small flappy things.
Q - QUEST: Taking over the world, naturally. Actually, I'd like to get some of my writing published. Not necessarily to be able to make a living as a writer, but just publish something. Possibly I will end up going the self-publish route.
R - RELIGIOUS AFFILIATION: Born and raised Catholic. Currently ostensibly practicing Catholic (for the sake of my grandparents), but I have major problems with the Roman Catholic church, so my heart isn't really in it. If I ever live in a country where non-Catholics aren't super rare, I might consider exploring my options since I do actually sometimes feel the need to go to church.
S - SIBLINGS: None.
T - TIME YOU WAKE UP: These days, I try for around 8-ish, but I'm not always successful.
U - UNNATURAL HAIR COLOUS YOU'VE WORN: Purple, orange (from an attempt at bleaching my hair at home), greenish (accidentally, from trying an ash blonde shade on bleached hair), various unnatural shades of red.
V - VEGETABLE YOU REFUSE TO EAT: I'm not too crazy about olives, but I don't actually refuse to eat them. I have no desire to eat artichokes.
W - WORST HABIT: Procrastination.
X - X-RAYS YOU'VE HAD: Lungs, middle toe on my right foot. A bunch of dental x-rays.
Y - YUMMY FOODS YOU MAKE: EVERYTHING I MAKE IS YUMMY. I love to make traditional things, like cabbage rolls and stews, or lighter fare like crepes and salads.
Z - ZANY QUIRK: In this day and age, is knitting still a zany quirk?

Interesting, I pronounce it closer to the former. I think it might be linked to the whole Great Northern Shift phenomenon though.
