So I finished my
originalbigbang fic after all, polished up a playlist to serve as a mix for bonus materials, and posted it last night.
Strong Enough to Stand by
astro_noms. Explicit. Violence, coarse language, sex. Original, f/f slash. At AO3.
Alex Porter only wanted to get away from her alcoholic mother and mob boss father, but although she managed a few years away at school, tragedy brings her home. Pulled into the "family business," she has to deal with lecherous employees, an uninvited arranged marriage, and a father who'll use her however he has to in order to achieve his goals. The only bright spot is Olivia, the woman Alex has wanted since she first saw her several years ago. First, though, she has to deal with Olivia's overprotective sister, several assassination attempts, betrayals by those closest to her, and her own control issues. With the family business threatening to consume her entirely, and her personal life on the verge of falling apart, Alex has to tread carefully if she's ever going to establish herself as more than a mob princess or a trophy wife, or for that matter, stay alive.
The story page at AO3 has a link to the mix, but you can just click
here and you'll get there, too.
This weekend, I have to write a 1,000 word analysis of a randomly chosen poem from an anthology by women poets, so I'm not particularly worried about that assignment. And the next one is due next Monday (1,000 words of "annotations" on a piece of text given to us), so I'm not particularly worried about that one, either. There will be more due before Christmas, but enh.
I've been trying to get myself out of this creative slump I've gotten into, but nothing so far seems to be working. I've tried writing smaller pieces, and the cursor mocks me. I've tried making randomly-themed playlists, but I get like, three songs on them, and then they just sit there, unfinished. And let's not even talk about Photoshopping, because that's just not funny. At least I haven't stopped any of it entirely, because that would just be tragic. This was one of the reasons I didn't sign up for NaNo, even though I *have the idea to write, but the frustration from not writing is worse than the not writing itself. Still, to all of you doing NaNo, I salute you. There but for the grace of Ceiling Cat go I.
Later today, I WILL do the picspam post, plus the Brat Blanket post. *resolve face*
