It's a long First of May National Holiday - Flag Day - Constitution Day - Saturday - Sunday weekend for us here in Poland, so I am at my grandparents' already. And seeing as it's a weekend of national holidays, I'm going to attempt baking a white-and-red colored cheesecake with a red velvet cake bottom (from
this recipe, which is in Polish, but there's pictures? if it turns out, I'll translate it, if it doesn't, we shall never speak of it again).
I'm also going to attempt to figure out what's going on with my DVD burner, and if I can get it to run on my grandparents' laptop, then that'll just mean that there's yet another thing going wrong with my aging MBP. :( I'm kinda thinking it's the DVD burner itself, though, because if there was something wrong with the USB ports on the laptop, surely the external hard drive and pendrives wouldn't work either? IDK.
In slightly better computer-related news, my mom might be buying me a tablet soon? I sent her a link to the kind I wanted yesterday (the
ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity with the keyboard dock), and she's all "so, you
don't want a mini iPad, then?" so I'm not sure if she's just
really stuck on the idea of the mini, or if it's the cost of the ASUS (the mini would slightly cheaper, but the ASUS has more advantages, like the size and the memory and the keyboard, etc.). I'm going to talk/email with her today, and see what's up. But either way, I'm probably getting a tablet soon! (LOL, when I sent her the link to the Best Buy product page, where it's put together with the dock and looks like a netbook, she was all "aw, come on, I'll buy you a proper Mac, don't you want a tablet, too?" which, YAY GADGETRY ENABLING.)
More later, because now I gotta go put in some family time and then grandpa and I are going to pick up some groceries and I think the cheesecake portion of the cake has to be baked in advance so it's properly cooled, so I'll probably be doing that today still.
