The Blogger's Prayer

Lo, there do I see my posts.
Lo, there do I see my tweets.
Lo, there do I see my gifsets and my picspams.
Lo, there do I see the line of my blog, back to the beginning.
Lo, they do call to me.
They bid me take my place among them on the Internets,
Where the geek may live forever.

Caerphilly was lovely! The castle is amazing and I seriously envy the people who live in a town with a freaking castle in the middle. We climbed up into some towers and onto the walls and took a bunch of photos I need to run through Lightroom because my camera apparently can't balance between "bright sky" and "dark stone" and most of the pictures are really dark. Someday, I'll figure out how to make the damned thing work properly. We didn't get to see the Great Hall, where apparently scenes from Doctor Who's "Vampires of Venice" were filmed, but the rest of it was still pretty awesome.

It was actually really cold and windy, but at least it didn't rain, so at least that's something? IDK. It's below freezing and snowing in Poland, so that's not going to be pleasant. :\

I guess now I should stop slacking off and try to finish as much packing as I can today. The landlord is coming tomorrow at 3pm to check the rooms, get the keys back from us, and give us back our deposits - well, part of them, because he's taking out a bunch of money for the heating bill. Even though there were days when there was no fucking heat in the house. But apparently we've exceeded the "reasonable" 5GPB/week allotment, so he's taking it out of our deposits. *sigh* I'm just hoping he doesn't try to pick on anything else in our rooms, because seriously, the only reason we've put up with as much of the bullshit in this house as we have - mold growing on the walls, cold drafts everywhere, the fucking dog that barks for eight hours a day, etc. - is that we were only here for a few months, so it wasn't worth it. But I really don't want to get into an argument in the last hours we're here, so keep your fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly tomorrow.

And I posted fic! Another short fic, another Batwoman AU story. This thing is going to be HUEG if we ever finish writing it. But anyway, creepy babymaking porn! The Price of Anything (1,000 words, f/f/m, explicit) - here at [community profile] atomicvaudeville.

So the other day, Marta and I were sitting in the kitchen, waiting for our food to finish cooking, and through some inexplicable train of thought and conversation, ended up talking about omegaverse fics and the tropes associated with it. I mentioned the primer I recently ended up reading on AO3 (I don't know! there was some clicking! and then it was there! *hands*) and quoted the bit of it where it tells you *not to google knotting. No, seriously, don't google that.

Which is of course the moment when one of our roommates walked by the kitchen. Now, I'm fairly sure she's pretty non-fannish, or at least not to the extent that would involve fanfic, especially fanfic of the omegaverse variety.

We were discussing it later, wondering if that counted as hitting rock bottom, but we realized that "rock bottom" is pretty much a bottomless pit, and you can always sink lower than discussing knotting and assbabies over some fish à la Greek.

But seriously, I would love to see some F/F omegaverse fics. Apparently they're super rare, which of course means I'm now going to be searching AO3 for something, because that's just how I roll?

scene: two roommates brushing teeth together in the bathroom

Me: *pushing the toothpaste back to the top of the tube, grumbling* You're one of those people...
Marta: *snicker*
Me: Oh my god, we're so married.

Marta: You know, if we actually were living in a sitcom, people would totes be shipping us.
Me: I'm pretty sure some people already do.

So this is from our first visit to Cardiff, wherein we went to visit Mermaid Quay (the site of Torchwood Three), walked around Roald Dahl Plass, and went to the Doctor Who Experience (as you do). It was raining on and off all day, so I didn't really get a lot of pictures outside, and most of the pictures from the DWE were blurry and dark, so there aren't a lot of them, either.

Yes, we're giant nerds, absolutely. )

This isn't in any way coherent or anything, it's just a bunch of pictures to show you that I do indeed live in the fucking SHIRE. I'm breaking up the picspams because there are way too many pictures for one post. It's not totally cloudy and weird ALL the time, but it rains a lot here. Like, A LOT. Like, I thought people exaggerated about how much it rains here, but HOLY CRAP THEY WEREN'T KIDDING. It's still gorgeous and incredible and I want to stay here forever and ever.

The sun's gone dim, and the sky is dark. )

I need a photography icon.

So, naps? EVIL. I ended up lying down with a headache around 7pm last night, and then passing out and sleeping until midnight. Which is why I was still awake at 4:30 this morning. That and the chocolate cake Marta made. OMG so good, but also omg chocolate coma. I was trying really hard to reset my messed up sleep cycle, and start getting up early and going to bed at a reasonable time (ha!) but I guess that's going to have to wait for another day.

In the aftermath of the recent LJ fuckwittery and the pretty much constant stream of comment spam, I'm turning off comments on LJ. I've imported my LJ flist over to DW, so those of you who aren't over at DW yet (and come on, isn't it time you switched over, or at least crossposted? please? join us, we have cookies!) can comment using your OpenIDs. I might enable the comments again at some point, but IDK.

Roommate fuckwittery update. )

Marta and I went to Barry Island today, because we needed to get out of the house, and we wanted to see the place in the daytime (we were there for the Bonfire Night fireworks last week). It was a gorgeous, sunny day, with flawless blue skies and perfect weather for a walk. I have to go to bed now because I've got class tomorrow, but I will try to motivate myself sufficiently to finally do that Wales! picspam tomorrow/this weekend, but for now, have a ridiculous photo of a sunset:
